Localized Fatigue Changes Neuromuscular Activity during Lifting
نویسندگان
چکیده
Prolonged lifting may be associated with an incrase injury risk due to fatigued muscles being less capable of reacting to any perturbations that occur during a lift. Repetitive muscle use leads to reduced functional capacity, known as fatigue. In lower force tasks, fatigue is an ongoing process which may result in increased perceived effort and a reduction in the maximal force generating capacity of a muscle [1]. This study investigated the neuromuscular changes in a general and two local fatiguing lifting protocols.

EMG Activity of Trunk Muscles in Patients with Chronic Low Back Pain after Fatigue
Fatigue, Abdominal muscle, EMG, co-contraction, loading Background: Low back pain (LBP) is one of the most prevalent musculoskeletal disorders. Altered movement patterns in LBP patients can reflect changes in neuromuscular control. Objective: This study aimed to assess trunk muscle electromyographic (EMG) response after trunk extensor muscle fatigue in LBP subjects. Methods: Sixteen patients wi...
متن کاملThe Effect of Inter-Repetition Rest Duration on Kinematic of Snatch
Background. Controlling and manipulating inter-repetition rest (IRR) could develop diverse levels of fatigue and manifest changes to lifting mechanics. Objectives. This studychr('39')s objective was to examine the effect of IRR on the kinematic of snatch lifting during multiple set exercise protocol. Methods. Fifteen male (n=15) athletes participated in this study (age = 21.0 ± 1.41 years; bo...
متن کاملElectromyography Assessment of Muscle Recruitment Strategies During High-Intensity Exercise
Electromyography (EMG) is an experimental technique concerned with the recording and analysis of myoelectric signals. Since the EMG signal detected on the surface of the skin directly reflects the recruitment and firing characteristics of the detected motor units within an area, EMG activity can be used to study the neuromuscular activation of muscles within postural tasks, functional movements...
متن کاملTowards Whole Body Fatigue Assessment of Human Movement: A Fatigue-Tracking System Based on Combined sEMG and Accelerometer Signals
This paper proposes a method to assess the overall fatigue of human body movement. First of all, according to previous research regarding localized muscular fatigue, a linear relation is assumed between the mean frequency and the muscular working time when the muscle is experiencing fatigue. This assumption is verified with a rigorous statistical analysis. Based on this proven linearity, locali...
متن کاملSlip Information Provided by Nerve Cuff Signals: Application in Closed-Loop Control of Functional Electrical Stimulation
A model of a paralyzed hand gripping and lifting an object was developed using anaesthetized cats. Functional neuromuscular stimulation (FNS) applied to the ankle plantarflexor muscles caused the footpad to press against and grip an object. Electroneurographic activity (ENG) activity generated by skin mechanoreceptors in the footpad was recorded with a cuff electrode implanted on the tibial ner...
